OCPP Charging

The simulator runs a charging pile that connects to the OCPP platform, sends its heartbeats, and reports itself as available. Plug a vehicle in here and the platform can start a charge; the charge itself is started and stopped from the platform.

How a charge runs

Available → plug in vehicle → Preparing → platform starts the charge → Charging → platform stops it → Available, no vehicle

  1. The pile connects and reports Available, over ws://ocpp-backend:9000/ocpp/CP-001, and repeats that every heartbeat.
  2. Plug in vehicle puts a vehicle on the connector, which a platform reads as Preparing before it offers a charge. Nothing is charging yet.
  3. The platform sends RemoteStartTransaction; the charger authorises the id tag, opens the transaction and reports Charging with meter values.
  4. When the platform sends RemoteStopTransaction, the charger closes the transaction, reports Finishing and then Available, and clears the vehicle — so the pile is back to its initial condition without anyone touching this page.
